FAPMI International Network

Dear Colleagues:

It is our pleasure to introduce you to The Federation of Associations for the Prevention of Child Mistreatment in Spain (FAPMI). Since 1990, our organization and the Member Associations have developed more than 170 programs, focused on prevention, detection, attention and intervention of Children and Adolescents, victims of mistreatment or sexual abuse and their families and context. Also, we pay particular attention to the training of professionals (including the biannual Child Mistreatment Congress) and prevention campaigns. Our work is recognized and supported by national, regional and local administrations and we collaborate with them, building together the best conditions of protection for children and adolescents.

The Federation was founded in 1990 and it is formed by nine regional associations which work in prevention of child mistreatment, and intervention and support to the children and their families. Currently, the Federation is made up of more than 100 professionals. The Federation is an institutional collaborator of the Spanish Government and the Regional Administrations and other national organizations. We participate in the National Child Observatory of the Health and Social Policy Department, the Work Groups of Child Mistreatment and Child Sexual Exploitation of the Observatory, and we participate in the elaboration of the National Strategic Plan of Childhood and Adolescence and the National Plan for Action taken Against Sexual Exploitation of Children. Likewise, the Federation has representation in the Directive Board of the Platform of Child Organizations of Spain, and participates in the National Commission of Help to Victims of Delinquent Violence and Violence Against Sexual Indemnity (Justice Department). On the other hand, the Federation has been organizing the Biannual National Congress of Childhood Mistreatment since 1990.
